Earlier I have shared some Vazhai pindi Recipes. I have shared Vazhaithandu Moor Kootu prepared in Tamil Style. This is tastes bit different from that with the addition of mustard seeds. Healthy side dish with rice. Perfect dish to beat summer and best for Kidney stones.

     Here we are preparing this for this Onam. Perfect dish for Onam. Except the fibre removing part the recipe is super easy. Almost all pachadis prepared with curd. Banana stem gives cooling effect to the body. This too prepared with curd so it gives double cooling effect to the body.

Banana Pith Pachadi

INGREDIENTS:

Vazhapindi, finely chopped- 2 cup
Salt- to taste
Thick Curd/ Yogurt- 1and1/2 cup

To grind:
Coconut- 1/2 cup
Green chillies- 2-3
Mustard seeds- 1/2 teaspoon

To temper:
Oil- 2 teaspoons
Mustard seeds- 1/4 teaspoon
Dried red chilli, broken-2
Curry leaves- 1 strand

Vazhai thandu Pachadi

PROCEDURE:


  • Cut the banana stem and remove the fibre from them and soak them in water till you use.
  • In a pot add the chopped banana stem and 1 cup water and salt. Close with a lid and cook till soft.
  • Grind coconut, green chilli and as a thick paste add mustard seeds with this and pulse twice or thrice.
  • Add the coconut mixture with the cooked banana stem and mix well and cook for thirty seconds and switch off the gas.
  • Immediately add the beaten curd and mix well. Check for salt and add if needed.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds. Once it starts to splutter add the dried red chilli and curry leaves.
  • Pour this tempering over the pachadi and mix well.
