Strawberry Shrikhand recipe is a variation to the Indian dessert made with hung yogurt. It has been prepared gernerally with kesar|saffron with nuts(Kesar Shrikhand). Here i have given a twist by using strawberries in this dessert as i very well know the yogurt goes well with strawberries. As strawberries are in season i have used fresh strawberries for this recipe off season you could use frozen strawberries to make this yummy dessert. We liked the taste of it do try at this strawberry season!

Strawberries- 8-10 nos
Sugar- 1/4 cup
Hung Yogurt- 1 cup
Cardamom- pinch(optional)
Pista| Almonds, chopped- 1 tablespoons
Fresh strawberries, chopped- to garnish

  • Take 2 cups of thick yogurt and keep in a muslin or cotton cloth. Gather the edges and make a knot and hang on a kitchen sink tap or in a refrigerator with a collecting bowl to collect the whey for about 30 minutes. Squeeze the cloth well to remove extra whey water; set aside.
  • Remove the stem and leaves from strawberries and roughly chop them. Add the chopped strawberries inside blender jar and add the sugar and blend to make a paste.
  • Add the hung curd with the strawberry puree inside the blender. Add cardamom powder if you wish.
  • Blend once or twice to make combine well. Do not pulse more as the jar heated up and heat dilutes the curd. So carefully do that.(You could use hand held electric beater too)
  • Transfer on two serving glasses and garnish with chopped pista or almonds and freshly chopped strawberries.
